I am currently ONLY working out of the Cactus & 35th Ave Salon, no mobile services or pelted rabbit shaves. At The Splooting Rabbit I provide certified rabbit grooming that will keep your bunny healthy and happy, but bring me your dirty bunnies, I LOVE them. I have 13 years rabbit handling & health experience.

Hello bunny friends, my name is Kelly and I am a bunny lover and groomer. I’ve been working with buns for 13 years and had an 18 bun rabbitry and knew very little in the beginning. I had a lot to learn. I didn’t even know you’re supposed to watch your bunny’s booty often. I knew that I wanted to be working with buns forever. I’ve had and have a few house rabbits and I studied anything I could get my hands on, lots of vet textbooks! Now I know quite a bit more and I have 4 of my own bunnies now and the grooming keeps me in the bunny world.

I am always looking for ways to improve and expand our services, incorporating best practices. Your suggestions are always welcome also. My goal is to become the go-to pet rabbit groomer specializing in cases of urine scald and poopy butt, and Rabbit Consultant in Phoenix area and beyond.

I am a rabbit certified groomer, and a retired RN so I look at lots of things you don’t know I’m checking: flea dirt, eye and ear problems, lumps, bumps, abscesses-especially on the jawline and feet. I check for sore hocks, poopy butt, urine stained feet, urine scald, scent gland build up. I check ears and eyes and break up mats, sanitary trim, trim nails, perhaps a haircut and of course a deshedding! Why does a rabbit need all of this? Worst case scenario if they swallow too much hair it will clog the GI tract and cause GI Stasis and possible death. Urine scald and sore hocks can lead to bone infection and a deadly sepsis. But, mostly the mats and long nails can cause a lot of pain for your rabbit.

A true Spa experience : mini spa plus: music, aromatherapy, dry bath, candles, massage, also includes: brush out, haircut, nails, scent glands, ears, sanitary trim, health assessment
Nail trim, clean scent glands, grooming powder, health assessment, possible sanitary trim, comb out non matted bun, face trim
Even outgrown nails can become a big problem if not done about every 12 weeks. It causes bunny to hop unevenly and develop a sore hocks that can lead to an infection.
If your rabbit has poopy butt, please make sure the poop chute is not covered, they won’t be able to poop! Treatment includes very expensive products that deliver results! -included in price! Poopy butt needs determination of it‘s origin and can lead to serious infections in your bunny. I can work with you to clear it up. Usually a butt bath and a shave are a good starting point then we work on diet. Regular sanitary shaves may be required. See Notes..
Mats and mats that have become pelts are very very painful to your rabbit. They are in constant pain and therefore will never express their true personality. Cost depends on severity. Some mats can be combed out, or may need to be shaved out. I am not shaving pelted rabbits at this time.
This is a difficult cut and depending on bunny’s genetics and the texture of their wool sometimes cannot be shaved or end up looking choppy. Price depends on amount of time it takes to comb out, remove mats, & bunny agreement!
Most people know that rabbits are not to be bathed. So unlike a dog or cat grooming, I do not bathe during the grooming. Also, fragrances, & essential oils are not tolerated or are toxic to rabbits. So, as much fun as it would be to give you a sweet smelling bunny, I can’t!!
I love caring for your buns! If you have a special request or questions, send me a message or even a picture and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
